| Address | 59 High Street , , Wellington | | Comments | A real gem of a place to dine in Somerset and well worth a journey to get there! The food was fresh and absolutely delicious. Despite our chef, Herman, working on his own he was happy to cater for a group of 8, including vegetarian, and took time to talk to us whilst cooking! A very friendly and welcoming atmosphere, thank you - and I'm still after the recipe for the mushroom/ goats cheese starter!! | |   | Posted by Di Hanson on 2010-08-29 19:41:53 |
| Address | Skinners Lane , Churchill , Nr Congresbury | | Comments | We think the Nelson's Arms is great and travel from Wraxall especially if we fancy a good value good quality carvery meal. Polite, friendly and helpful staff, excellent portions and you can get a carvery takeaway with gravy. What's not to like? | |   | Posted by Fiona de Wolfe on 2010-08-28 21:13:45 |

| Address | 59 High Street , , Wellington | | Comments | This was our first visit to Flavours after being awarded with a voucher through the local fitness centre, the restaurant has a very welcoming and friendly feel to it. from start to finish the meal was one of the best we have had in many many years, it has a first class fine dining menu choice, the chef was happy to come out and check everyone and everything was in order. We are very lucky to have found a restaurant in Wellington which holds such a high standard of food and will most certainly be returning again in the future.

| Address | 59 High Street , , Wellington | | Comments | We recommend Flavours unreservedly. On a recent visit, Herman and his team gave us a warm and friendly welcome, and the food was superb. Freshly-baked herb-scented rolls, tarragon and broccoli soup, and baked goat's cheese with fig jam on a bed of mushroom were the delicious starters, followed by guinea fowl with chorizo and chickpeas, and pork loin in a rich marsala sauce, both complemented by crisp fresh vegetables. Everything was cooked to perfection, the sauces in particular subtle and imaginative. A memorable dining experience, and excellent value for money. We shall be back - soon! | |   | Posted by Andrew and Lynn Carter on 2010-08-25 09:21:25 |

| Address | Catcott , , Bridgwater | | Comments | We arrived on 4th August with two horse drawn carts and six people. we were a little late (the kitchen was closed) but were treated to a lovely big ploughmans, great local ales and even carrots and water for the horses. This pub is a hidden treasure that is well worth finding. We'll definitely come back. | |   | Posted by Dave Kirk on 2010-08-16 22:26:21 |
| Address | 65 Station Road , , Taunton | | Comments | What a well kept secret! We decided, 4 of us, that since we were coming to visit the Taunton Flower show we would have a nice meal on the Friday. Found the restaurant on this site so rang and managed to get the last table. As with all french restaurants, lets say the service was relaxed. However that gave us the time to enjoy the wine and the company. On saying that the service was actually perfectly timed and the food was superb! We all had something different and not one of us would share, it was that good. Two of us had fish as a main and they were both cooked to perfection.
When the bill came we had all overestimated what it would be, so not only was the food outstanding, but the price was way below what we expected.
All of us would certainly use this restaurant again. | |   | Posted by Colin Carlson on 2010-08-16 09:56:56 |

| Address | 17 Friday Street , , Minehead | | Comments | A wonderful place to relax and unwind. The Reading Room is my first choice to go for a coffee in town, Lesley's homemade soup is not to be missed out on either! The place has an overall calm and friendly atmosphere. Lesley and her staff are very pleasant and accommodating. I am looking forward to seeing how the Reading Room will develop further as each time I visit there is more to look at and read. | |   | Posted by Miss Mathews on 2010-08-11 13:00:35 |

| Address | 59 High Street , , Wellington | | Comments | This was the best meal we have eaten during our stay in Somerset. We had a roast vegetable pasta dish with wonderful flavours and a lamb dish where the chops had a layer of fat that made them so tasty and tender. And the puddings- well what can we say they were exquisite. Wish Flavours was near us because the prices were so reasonable that we could eat there every week! | |   | Posted by Helen and Malcolm Roberts on 2010-07-17 13:23:52 |
| Address | Catcott , , Bridgwater | | Comments | Four of us went for supper a few evenings ago. we all ate different meals. The food was very good, much better than one would normally expect to get at an inn. The puddings were devine. this was the second time we had gone there and we were not at all disapointed. | |   | Posted by m F Qadir on 2010-07-13 11:49:22 |

| Address | Fishermans Wharf , Unit 5 West Quay , Bridgwater | | Comments | WOW! This has to be Somerset's best kept secret as Luis tells me this little piece of Brazillian heaven has been open for a year! The food was delicios, service excellent and the whole experience was very good and traditionally Brazillian. There is a lot to say about this Rodizio buffet restaurant so I will just say book your table now! www.tropicalrestaurant.co.uk | |   | Posted by Lyndsey Mayhew on 2010-07-04 09:01:32 |

| Address | 59 High Street , , Wellington | | Comments | My partner and I decided to go here for lunch after seeing all the great reviews on this website; and we were not disappoint! The owner was very very welcoming and catered for my partners vegetarian needs with a sense of passion and a superb knowledge of food.
I had the sea bass, which was accompanied by a fantastic roast veg sauce. My other half had the parsnip fritters. Both meals were fabulous. There is also a great selection of wines available, I only wish I had a little more time to try them all! | |   | Posted by Tom Pearson on 2010-06-28 13:47:31 |

| Address | Fishermans Wharf , Unit 5 West Quay , Bridgwater | | Comments | When you visit Tropical Restaurant, Bridgwater you do not get a meal, you get an experience. Good service coupled with fantastic food is generally what you are looking for. However, the culinary theatre provided by this establishment resulted in my friend and I only able to find one word to describe the evening. Epic! | |   | Posted by Dan on 2010-06-13 18:23:40 |
| Address | Catcott , , Bridgwater | | Comments | we eat here regularly, home cooked food is inventive as some meals are not found in your average pub but tastes great, the dreamy creamy chicken is highly recommended. price wise it is good value for your money. service is welcoming and friendly. also a lovely open fire to warm your cockles on a cold miserable day. give it a try, you never know you my become a regular too. | |   | Posted by Kaz and Amanda on 2010-06-10 21:28:27 |
| Address | Catcott , , Bridgwater | | Comments | I was kindly taken to The Crown on the 2nd June 2010 by a business partner as an alternative to eating in our Hotel.
All I can say is what a fantastic change it was to go to a lovely country pub set amongst stunningly beautiful surroundings.
The menu although not extensive has more than enough dishes to please anybody, but additional to that they also had a great specials board. When the food arrived it was exactly what you would expect from such a warm welcoming country pub, bags of flavour and very nicely presented, and it also came at a very reasonable price.
The pub also had an extensive range of drinks available and being a cider drinker I would highly recommend a pint of Thatcher’s Gold.
In essence I would not hesitate to recommend this pub and eatery to anybody, as I had a lovely evening, which in part I credit to the friends that invited me, but mostly to the warmth and hospitality extended to us by the owners.
Many thanks for a lovely experience.

| Address | The Old Harbour House , Quay Street , Minehead | | Comments | A dining experience! We barged in on a private party to make our booking for the following evening. We were politely given menus and asked to ring in our order later that evening, the day before we dined. What a difficult choice! The food out-performed the description - it was superb. Our host gave us the history and it is easy to see why it is a first choice for many locals celebrating special occasions. We will be back! | |   | Posted by Chris Waddington on 2010-06-05 21:08:48 |

| Address | Catcott , , Bridgwater | | Comments | Three of us went for a meal last night at the Crown at Catcott (not the first time there either). Yet again, a very warm welcome from Rowena, and one of the party was pleased to see one of his favourite beers. Always a very good selection of meals to choose from. Two of us had gammon steaks, which are really thick and therefore stay nice and juicy. One had the fish pie, and all of us were more than satisfied, so much so that we didnt have room for a sweet (such a shame as the selection of home made sweets is always a plus with me. Even though we had to make diversions because of roadworks through Edington it was well worth making them. Thanks again Rowena and staff | |   | Posted by Mike Saunders on 2010-06-02 10:44:40 |
| Address | Catcott , , Bridgwater | | Comments | My English husband and I return to his native West Country every year. When we do, we mark every occasion with a visit to The Crown. He introduced me to The Crown during our courtship, and it has been a special place to us ever since. He is a particular eater, and finds the beef at The Crown always prepared to his liking. I always seem to order curry, although there are other items on the menu that tempt me. We love its cosy and homey decor, and I enjoy the wide selection of alcoholic beverages. The Crown has family appeal, and we have seen children, as well as adults, enjoying a meal here. This is the place to celebrate your special and intimate moments, as well as the place to dine any day that you want to make special. | |   | Posted by Pam Horter-Moore on 2010-06-02 01:34:41 |

| Address | 65 Station Road , , Taunton | | Comments | Where do you go in Taunton for fantastic cooking of the best produce and a warm welcome without paying too much for design over content? Well, Didier and Stella Pinguenest have been quietly doing this for 15 years at The French Connection. Over the years, the food has always drawn praise and our last dinner there which featured calves liver, guinea fowl and sea bass that had just jumped our of the sea, accompanied by that lost art, vegetables, fresh and piping hot served us up a treat. How does the chef produce such varied freshly cooked ingredients to arrive pefectly. The starters were varied and equally scrumptious and the desserts dangerously tempting. All of which only left you afraid that choice had left out one of the other menu delights! There is a wine list that compliments the menu and, as is rare elsewhere, does not make you pay through the nose, just savour the bouquet!
If I had any criticism, it is that in the summer, it can get too hot and maybe its time for an airco unit.
Would I recommend it? Yes as long I can still get a table when I wanted a truly good dinner out.
Long may we have this kind of real food in Taunton. | |   | Posted by Simon Urquhart on 2010-05-28 09:18:23 |

All home cooked food and a lovely warm welcome .What more could you ask for .All 19 ladies including the Birthday girl herself had a wonderful evening thanks to Rowena and her staff at the Crown at Catcott .Heres to the next time | |   | Posted by Moira Croker on 2010-05-27 11:06:21 |
| Address | Blundells Lane , West Monkton , Taunton | | Comments | Had king prawns in a tempura batter to start which was light and delicious followed by liver and bacon with asparagus in a rich red wine sauce. Beautifully cooked and pleasing on the eye and both courses for only £15. The bottle of wine was good value too at £12.50. All the wines were £12.50. The same meal elsewhere would easily have cost double. Well done and many thanks - we will be back. | |   | Posted by Ian Sims on 2010-05-25 11:06:10 |
| Address | 9 Heritage Courtyard , Sadler Street , Wells | | Comments | Arriving late at our Hotel in Wells on a wet Saturday evening, we were not hopeful of finding a nice place to eat. We stumbled upon the Café Piano by chance as we heard music from a courtyard on Sadler Street. Although we arrived after their normal serving time and the restaurant was clearly very busy with other happy diners, we were welcomed in. During the evening we enjoyed wonderful food, excellent service and live music from the talented guitarist/singer Ross Kirk. Highly recommended. | |   | Posted by Ingrid on 2010-05-24 16:05:02 |

| Address | 6A Holyrood Street , Chard , Somerset | | Comments | The Gallery is THE place to eat for select surroundings and good freshly cooked food. The Gallery Brunch is wonderful especially with the eggy toast, their soups are to die for, satisfying and somehow `reassuring'. The lunchtime menu is varied and intersting, their Burns night was a hoot and a must for next year and their cakes ooooh their cakes ... is the word superlative the right one to use. | Address | 6A Holyrood Street , Chard , Somerset | | Comments | An excellent restaurant in Chard with the full range of meals from morning coffee/tea to evening fine dining. The new owners have made it a really relaxing place in which to meet friends and enjoy good food and the setting is stylish and attractive. There are light meals at lunchtimes and the evening meals are interesting and varied. The chef changes the menu monthly and there are regular special events such as wine tasting or specially themed meals. Not to be missed if you are in the area. | |   | Posted by Roy Biggs on 2010-05-13 09:03:12 |

| Address | Lime Street , Nether Stowey , Bridgwater | | Comments | On a weekend away in Somerset I visited Nether Stowey and went to the Ancient Mariner for dinner on a saturday night.
On arrival we received a very warm welcome. We decided to eat in the resteraunt area and were shown through to a lovely spacious eating area that felt very comfortable and relaxing. The menu had a lovely choice of traditional home cooked food of a high standard and there was also a specials board offering dishes with a local twist. As much as possible local meat and veg was used in the dishes on the menu which debs the chef said she had sorced since taking over.
We found the service excellent and the attention to detail was fantastic as we sat amd looked over the menu.
I chose the beef curry, which I asked the waitress if I could have made hotter as I like my currys very spicey, and it came out and was exactly as I wanted it. As good a curry as I have ever had, taste and flavour was perfect, and the presentation was great..seemed a shame to eat it because it looked so good.
My fiance ordered rump steak, again locally reared beef supplied from the butcher a few doors away. Again cooked exactly to order and again the presentation was superb. The service was excellent and the whole dining out experience was fantastic, and would highly recommend a visit.
The pub also has a large bar with a pool table, darts, and sky sports but would not interfere with the dining room as it is a separate room, but there is no problem with you eating in the bar if you want to.
Ian & Debbie were fantastic hosts and nothing was to much trouble.
On our next visit to the area we will definitely vist again. Thanks to all who made our visit so good. | |   | Posted by Neil Fudge on 2010-05-01 21:12:20 |

Anyone wanting a superb bite to eat should definitely visit this place. All the food is of a really nice quality. Everything is home made including the deserts and it sure shows when your meal. I had the Pie Of the Day and it was amazing and so filling I actually couldn’t get through it all. My wife had Mushroom Stroganoff, again home made and it was to die for. The deserts, well they are just something else. What a refreshing change too not only have all the main meals home made but the deserts too. My wife had sticky toffee pudding and custard and I had Lime and Tequila Cheesecake again absolutely superb. These guys really have got the food down to a T. I would say it was probably one off the nicest Meals out we have ever had and so unexpected from a village pub. | Address | 50 Bath Road , Ashcott , Nr Bridgwater | | Comments | If you are looking for an attractive setting with great hosts and superb food you can not do better than the Ashcott Inn. Our host was attentive and a delight to meet. The food exceeded our expectations and if your budget is tight our bill for drinks and three course meal came out at less than £20 a head. For our special birthay celebration we even got a candle wilth the apple pie making a very good meal that little bit more special. Certainly worth a return visit. | |   | Posted by Mr Jess Ongley on 2010-04-25 12:02:09 |
| Address | 59 High Street , , Wellington | | Comments | We went to Flavours in Wellington last night and had a wonderful meal - one of the best we've had since moving back to the UK 2 years ago. | Address | 59 High Street , , Wellington | | Comments | What an excellent evening had by 4 of us. The food was excellent each course was full of flavour, and obviously cooked to order, since we were asked to preorder since there was supposed to be 8 of us, unfortunatly the valcano prevented 4 from being in the country. However we were extreamly well looked after and left having had a lovely meal without feeling stuffed. The menu changes regularly depending what can be locally sourced, all of which is good value for money. We will return. | |   | Posted by Robin Harris on 2010-04-18 12:14:50 |

| Address | Eleighwater , , Chard | | Comments | Sunday roast lunch at £9.95 might not be the cheapest in the area but it is possibly one of the best quality. Beautifully served in hot plates I had roast lamb and my husband had roast beef. Ample portions arrived with loads of beautiful roast potatoes, lovely veg and gravy served separately which is what I like. Really comfortable surroundings at a very pretty venue. We were celebrating the 80th birthday of our 1930 Austin 7 and a traditional roast lunch just seemed to the perfect way. Thankyou Hornsbury Mill for a lovely lunch | |   | Posted by Anne Whellock on 2010-04-15 11:33:20 |
| Address | Hewish , , Weston-Super-Mare | | Comments | Visit 3pm 11/04/10
Today we visited The Full Quart, as its a local for us and we heard good things about the pub from freinds. Clearly a sunday is a busy day for any pub, the staff on welcoming us were excellent, freindly and cheerful although the pub was very busy with people having a summer drink and sunday lunch, anyway thats why we were there, their Roast on a sunday is a treat, good value for money
(7.50 ish) and the food really is lovely, with a choice of meats ( the portions arnt stingy at all ), for a tip make sure you have some of their roasties with cranberry very nice indeed !
Anyway, drinks good, food good, beer garden good, toilets good - if you want a uncomplicated easy sunday dinner with the family this is worth the trip. Keep up the good work !!
To the owners - why not try a discount after 4pm as it gets quiter then and customers will understand that they may not get their first choice of meets as its after the rush. | |   | Posted by Matthew Rhys-Davies on 2010-04-12 12:20:03 |

| Address | 3 Main Street , Ash , Martock | | Comments | Situated in the country village of Ash, this is a real country pub. Sporting a fine selection of Real Ales and Ciders and a magnificent roaring, log fuelled, fireplace, this is a great pub where to sit and to fully relax becomes so easy.
And that is not all.
The full menu comprises delicious home made dishes which at under £8, represent tremendous value for money. They are freshly cooked with good ingredients to make for a good eating experience. You won't need a dinner jacket to lunch or dine here but you are advised to have an empty stomach, for the portions really are man-sized. Futhermore, this country pub is a Tardis-like establishment, for behind the main bar there lies a large function room with a well-tended beer-garden beyond that. We don't live in Ash but have been back 5 times in 5 weeks - and still want more.
If you are near the area then don't pass it by - you won't be disappointed.

| Address | Lime Street , Nether Stowey , Bridgwater | | Comments | We can honestly say that the meal we had at The Ancient Mariner was the best we have had in a long time. Kev had the homemade pate for starter which he wolfed down in a matter of minutes. For main I had the pork steak while Kev had the T Bone steak. My pork was cooked brilliantly - it was tender and full of flavour. Kev likes his steaks blue and Deb's cooked it just right! Ian & Deb's are wonderful hosts and make you feel at home and welcome. We will definately be going back! | |   | Posted by Tracy & Kev on 2010-03-31 11:56:17 |

There is a very varied menu, which comes in good sized portions and meals are consistently of top quality. The vegetarian curry is the best I have had in a very long time. The staff are always cheerful. when I had my immobile mother they made it easy for me to take her out for lunch. The place itself has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The service was excellent with the proprietor ensuring we were being well looked after. Most importantly the food was delicious and cooked to perfection. There were specials as well as the main menu.
We found it whilst travelling on the M5 through Somerset on our way home to Cornwall and put "Food" in our Sat Nav so it was a lovely surprise.
If you're in the area of Wellington eating at Flavours is highly recommended, if you're not actually in Wellington then make a detour - like we did - to eat at Flavours anyway! | |   | Posted by Mike Jay on 2010-02-28 14:02:42 |

We had never been before, but checked it out during December and all seemed fine. Christmas was an eye opener. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel as though we mattered. The owner and staff were on hand to greet us and offered champagne on arrival. The meal itself was superb! A well chosen menu, beutifull presented food and well cooked. | Address | Catcott , , Bridgwater | | Comments | Well where do i start? What an amazing experience we had! Got recommended to go the Crown by some neighbours and my partner is very fussy with 'pub' food but this is no 'pub'food, his words were that is out of this world! I had homemade creamy garlic mushrooms which were really garlicy followed by Chef's own slow roasted lamb shank in a red wine and mint jus which was to die for the lamb just fell off the bone and then it had to be the homemade white choc and raspberry cheesecake WOW! the staff were so pleasant and there was no waiting ages for a meal, very efficient. My partner had a 16oz Rump steak and he could eat it with a butter knife because it was so tender there was no need for a steak knife! We have also tried the Sunday carvery which is a great choice of meats and such a wide range of veg that you wouldnt do at home, noticed they are starting quiz nights so we are hoping to go there tues 12th jan for gen knowledge quiz and friday 12th for music quiz which they are also doing basket meals for which will go down a treat! My partner was really impressed by the variety of real ales there was. As we walked in the door the log fire was roaring and the staff were so welcoming. Definetly recommend the Crown for great food, great atmosphere and a great time! | |   | Posted by Grace on 2010-01-06 19:41:37 |

The turbot was gorgeous and my husband had a wonderful steak in a super sauce. The sweets were utterly delightful too and as for the smoked duck!!!! | Address | 59 High Street , , Wellington | | Comments | We have eaten here a couple of times in the last two weeks and both times the food was fantastic. My husband is vegan (and a really good cook) and I am vegetarian, and Herman (the chef at Flavours) has clearly spent time finding out about and experimenting with vegan food (we let him know in advance that we are coming). Each time he has served us a variety of delicious, balanced, and beautifully presented dishes. What a star! It is such a joy to find somewhere that it is worth us going to - places that make the effort to understand and cook good vegan food are few and far between, so well done Flavours! Incedentally, we are told by our eating companions that their meat and fish dishes were really good too - in particular my husband's dad (an ex-butcher and very very fussy about his meat) was really impressed with the steak. | |   | Posted by Jo Rose on 2009-12-30 18:19:38 |

| Address | Brompton Regis , Nr Dulverton , Exmoor | | Comments | This is the best of British pubs. The staff can't do enough for you, with friendly and careful service, and the B+B is comfy and popular. The food is varied and delicious, with a wide choice of traditional meals, made as far as possible from local ingredients, and a changing specials board, too. Paul enjoys cooking curries, and there is a regular curry night with all the trimmings. We have enjoyed the quiz nights, and the pub entertains local bands on some Sunday evenings. In the summer you can sit outside with beautiful views across Exmoor, and in the winter toast yourself in front of the fire, and play darts or skittles. The shop is worth a visit if you are there in the mornings, for papers, groceries and fresh and frozen foods. It's an Exmoor information centre, too, so you can find out about walks, local events, and places to visit. More power to you, Trish, Paul, June, Jim and all. | |   | Posted by Jane on 2009-12-02 15:54:54 |

| Address | Catcott , , Bridgwater | | Comments | With both of us working ''weekends'' we occasionally decide on a 'Cavery Sunday Roast' as its easier for the both of us ... and there is only one place we ever book.
On Saturday we decided that 'Sunday' was going to be our 'eat out' Carvery day.
I booked the Crown and on Sunday we headed off.
The Carvery Roast was its usual tasty selection.
The staff are always polite and friendly and we had our usual 'catch up' chat.
The other customers were friendly as usual and we had a chat amongst ourselves about how 'good' the roast always 'is'.
I cant say enough about how good the food is at the crown ... if it were my choice I would eat out EVERY sunday.

| Address | Catcott , , Bridgwater | | Comments | This surely must be one of the nicest pubs in Somerset, went on recommendation, and was not dissappointed, the food was superb - hot, full of flavour and plentiful, such a lovely choice on their specials board, all definetly homecooked as it was so original - our thanks to Bob the landlord for making us so welcome -the warmth and atmosphere was something I had not experienced in a pub for a long time - we came in as strangers and went out friends Thank you we will be back soon | |   | Posted by Dyane Stevens on 2009-11-22 17:43:36 |

Combining an informal and relaxed dining experience along with superb, locally produced food, with excellent and friendly service. Also offers good, reasonably priced wines. | Address | Corfe Village , , Nr Taunton | | Comments | What an excellent country pub. Went there for lunch before racing, and found the Landlord and all of his staff extremely friendly and very welcoming. There beer was well above average and obviously very well looked after. The food was excellent. Properly cooked vegetables and not a hint of cooking oil anywhere. A most enjoyable experience that my friends and I are looking forward to repeating when we return for the racing in future. | |   | Posted by David Ryder on 2009-11-13 11:07:55 |
| Address | Eleighwater , , Chard | | Comments | We had an excellent evening meal at Hornsbury. The chef had obviously gone to great efforts to source fantastic local meat, and both the steak and the duck were cooked to perfection. The accompanying wine list is very good, and the service was very friendly and efficient. The restaurant also has views of the working waterwheel which adds a lot of character to the setting. | |   | Posted by Felicity Goldsmith on 2009-11-11 21:32:26 |

The staff were friendly and attentive (but not intrusive) and the food was fantastic. We had pre-dinner drinks in cosy armchairs before going in to eat in the dining room. The service was great and my risotto one of the best I have eaten. Would recommend it to anyone - we will definetly be going back. | |   | Posted by Anne Easton on 2009-11-04 10:34:39 |
| Address | 59 High Street , , Wellington | | Comments | What a nice surprise. Three of us went and, apart from the dessert, all had different dishes. From the freshly baked bread, scallops, hock terrine and wood pigeon all was very nicely cooked and presented and they were just the starters! We will most certainly be back because the food and service was fab! | |   | Posted by Gail on 2009-11-02 10:30:57 |

| Address | 59 High Street , , Wellington | | Comments | Our meal, quite simply, was one of the best we have had for a very long time. Luscious parsnip and broccoli soup with delicious home-made basil-spiced rolls prepared the way for superbly cooked sea trout with a wine and cream sauce that brought out the very best in the fish. A generous plate of vegetables accompanied the fish and the whole meal was beautifully served by the proprietor, for whom nothing was too mach trouble. Flavours is a gem of a small restaurant, an unexpected pleasure. I cannot recommend it too highly. | |   | Posted by Robin Harvey on 2009-10-17 14:56:28 |

The talk on the ship was all about the celebrity chefs Bistro special "to die for" sticky toffee pudding, yes it was lovely but I'm sorry Mr Martin, if you want a "to live for" sticky toffee pudding then the place to go is The Crown Inn at Catcott. they do the most incredible desserts ever and not at all small!! | |   | Posted by Mrs Marcia Tutton on 2009-09-19 09:26:27 |

| Address | 4 West Street , Grove Village , Weston-Super-Mare | | Comments | We went to The Alasia as a group of four adults and my two and a half year old niece. We could not have been made to feel more welcome from the time we walked through the door. Brunch was the order of the day and as we were all starving we were over the moon with the prompt and professional service. My wife being vegetarian couldn't believe it when told that the Marshmallows on top of her Mocha were veggie friendly and specially sourced from the internet. Gluten free Gloucester Old Spot sauages were a highlight of our meals, so much flavour! Although not strictly a "dietary requirement" restaurant, it is refreshing to find somewhere which can actually cater for everyone. | |   | Posted by Mark Ellis on 2009-08-31 18:36:06 |

We hadn't booked and were lucky we didnt have to wait for a table as it was very busy.I had the mozarella salad as a starter which was lovely. Mary had the White Bait. The boys just wanted pizzas and they were full up - which kept them quiet for a while. I had the veal with mushrooms which was as good as I have ever had anywhere. | Address | Catcott , , Bridgwater | | Comments | Although we live 300 miles away, this pub feels like our local! Whenever there is a family celebration or get together we always head to The Crown. We never fail to receive a warm welcome and the food is fantastic - the steak is cooked to perfection and "melt in the mouth". On the rare occassion when I have been able to fit in a pudding they have to be seen (and tasted) to be believed. We have small children who are always made welcome, are respected and the staff go out of their way to help. Roll on the next celebration...!! | |   | Posted by Sally on 2009-08-21 17:49:07 |

| Address | 8 Northload Street , , Glastonbury | | Comments | Hawthorns has a great restaurant. If you like your food a little bit different, spicy and exciting it is unmissable. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly, the food is fresh and all prepared on the premises, it's like going round to a friends house for dinner (If that friend is a really good cook!)Simon is a great chef he is not afraid to experiment so there is always something new alongside a core menu of his 'classic' dishes. The prices on food and drink are very reasonable and the portions generous. Altogether very highly recomended, every time we have visitors they always want to eat at Hawthorns. | |   | Posted by Andrew Borman on 2009-08-04 19:52:16 |
| Address | 8 Northload Street , , Glastonbury | | Comments | I stayed at this hotel in June as my wife and I were on holiday and needed somewhere to stay before and after going to the festival. The staff were terrific, they saw to our every need and no job was enough - they even held on to the belongings that we did not need to carry with us while we were at Worthy Farm.
The room was extremely comfortable, the bathroom spacious and everything was clean and rather rustic, we will definitely be back again next year.
We ate at the restaurant once and had a very nice curry, admittedly the beer was bottled but we had no complaints about the choice or quality. This review does consider both the hotel and restaurant and not just the bar, but this is a great place to stay and have a curry and bottle of badger before hitting the High St. | |   | Posted by Dan Raywood on 2009-07-31 16:22:59 |

The welcome was warm and friendly. Difficult to make a choice as everything on the menu was so mouthwatering. Our steaks were juicy tender and cooked just as we ordered. | Address | 8 Alexandra Parade , , Weston Super Mare | | Comments | For sometime now weekday lunchtimes in Weston super Mare have been a great place to dine authentic Italiano - on a budget. The town's four Italian eateries are all offering 'Any Pizza or Pasta' off the menu for a fiver, or less. I over the last two weeks'toured' all four - with mixed results. Two were outstanding, with the other two, in my opinion, disappointing. It was ironic though that the cheapest of them all, The Mask of Venice in Alexander Parade(12-2pm)was tops. Not only best for quality of food but also service, hospitality and freshness of ingredients. The staff are freindly, welcome and attentive without being overbearing. The restaurant is clean, cosy with a good family vibe...and the food hot and tasty (you must try the spaggetti omelette for 4.50!). Until yesterday, it was neck and neck in my books for Weston's numero uno Italiano eatery: MoV and the new Bottelino's. So, yesterday afternoon, I was licking my lips at MoV's outside menu, unfortunately 1 minute after the closing time of 2pm. After turning away, I was ushered in from the rainy street by the owner/chef who was happy to feed me at such a late time. So 10-15 mins later I was tucking into a mouthwatering 12" Capricusso pizza and ciabatta garlic bread, smothered in the freshest ingredients. This all washed down with yummy Italian filter coffee. Yet another bonus was my bill was less than seven quid! After this perfect meal I felt ashamed that I'd wasted good money on frozen boxed pizza when it should have been spent on lunchtime specials at the Mask of Venice. | |   | Posted by John Cadwallader on 2009-07-15 02:01:56 |
| Address | 8 Northload Street , , Glastonbury | | Comments | The first thing I notice was the great realaxed vibe that the Hathorns has, its just so welcoming. The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable with every thing we would need. Thing just got better when we talked staff, then where all very helpful and friendly which just comfermed that we had to eat there too. There is a hugh range of dishes, i don't think any one couldn't find somthing they would like, when we got are food we were suprised at the size of the portion, even with that said we eat everything beucase it was THAT GOOD. Well worth a vist, best place in town due to the food, atmosphere and the welcoming staff. Hawthorns is't a place to be miss in a vist to Glastonbury. | |   | Posted by Thomas Browne on 2009-07-12 17:27:25 |

| Address | Catcott , , Bridgwater | | Comments | Walked in the door and was hit by the smell of good fresh fish cooking. We shared a goats cheese and caramilsed onion puff pastry tart to start and what a good job we shared as the main course portions were very generous. Chose the Irish tatties (fresh trout, potato and spring onion fish cakes) that were homemade and superbly fresh. Perfectly cooked real chips (choice of other potatoes and veg avaialabe). I'm told the cod in beer batter and chips was great. The cod came up from Brixham and the trout was caught locally - we couldnt have asked for better. A great pub with a lovely atmosphere and if you want to feel a bit more "restauranty" then sit in the restaurant area to the right of the bar. Good service, good hosts, great food. Would go again and eat the same, but there is lots more to try. Sensibly not a massive menu, but plenty on there to make me go "oooh" and if it means that the standard stays as high, then I'm all for it. Specials board with well, how can I describe it, special food! Looking forward to next time. | |   | Posted by Lorna Davies on 2009-07-09 13:37:20 |

My wife and I had lunch here and it was very good - from the quality and taste, presentation, cost and service angles.
Hot day so lager limes were just right - cold and quickly served.
I chose - from anexcellent 'specials board', seared swordfish with lemon butter, a well dressed salad and 'home fried' chips. My wife enjoyed an 8oz steak - cooked as requested, with baby tomatoes and mushroom and saute potatoes.
Very well presented and reasonably priced - £35 with coffee.
The dining room faced on to the old market hall and the busy centre of Ilminster - good to watch whilst we waited - not too long but OK keeping in mind the fact that the food was freshly cooked. The dining room was cool, minimalist and clean - the service smooth and friendly without being fulsome.
Parking no real problem - all in all, a good way to lunch out. | |   | Posted by Roger M Simkin on 2009-07-08 16:06:47 |

The food portions are huge and very good value for money. I believe the food is cooked to perfction by the wonderfull chefs there. Their wine selection is varied but reasonable in price, the restaurant is lovely to sit in and their beer garden is a woderful scene on those summer afternoons. The staff try and help where ever possible. I had the curry whilst my two friends had the 8oz sirloin steak and the omelette. I believe the curry was the best curry i've ever had, john, having the sirloin steak, said it was cook absolutely perfect, sadie said her omelette was cooked with free range eggs and was cook wonderfully, unlike most restaurants they can cook omelettes and oviously put effort into their cooking. | |   | Posted by Gemma on 2009-06-16 11:44:34 |

| Address | 59 High Street , , Wellington | | Comments | This place is one of those treasures that is only to be found by scraping the surface or indeed digging because the decor and ambiance comes not from the dining area but from the kitchen and the owner/chef. The ingredients are fresh daily and cooked and presented with love, attention to detail, expertise and luscious originality. Don't pass this by. | |   | Posted by Paul on 2009-06-07 09:02:50 |

| Address | Townsend Road , , Minehead | | Comments | My wife and I visited the Kildare Lodge Hotel recently, we were pleasantly surprised to find a welcoming Host, offering us a variable choice of food from their Restaurant Menu, Bar Menu and Specials Board. There was plenty of choice for all appettites. The service was excellent and the food delicous and Hot. As Guest House proprietors in Minehead we are always looking for local restaurants that serve good food at reasonable prices to recommend to our own guests. Well Done Kildare, the Lutyens Restaurant will be high on our list. | |   | Posted by Peter O'Brien on 2009-05-29 10:19:56 |

The Alasia cater for gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian sufferers. | Address | 4 West Street , Grove Village , Weston-Super-Mare | | Comments | I have been for lunch and dinner at The Alasia on a few occasions, and I just can't stop myself from going back for more. I live in Bristol so it's a fair trek to get a meal considering the number of restaurants we have in Bristol, however, the food and service make it worth every mile driven!
The customer service is far beyond anything I've ever experienced in this country before, friendly, helpful, informative. It makes a refreshing change to ask what ingredients are in a dish and to be given the answer immediately.
The food is sublime, nothing I have eaten has disappointed, always perfectly cooked, flavoured and presented. I don't eat meat but my fiance does and he always has some wonderful choices, he's disappointed to have missed Kangaroo a few times but he has managed to catch himself some bison, rabbit and some of the usual suspects such as steak. The fish and vegetarian dishes, which I do eat, are also far beyond anything I've had anywhere else, sometimes at a much higher price. I highly recommend the Sea Bass and for lunch the Fish Cakes. As for the puddings, well, the puddings are, quite frankly, to die for, The Pudding Club is a must!
The restaurant is coeliac friendly and offers it's dishes in both Dairy & Gluten free options. I'm one of the lucky people who doesn't have to watch how much dairy or gluten is in my food, however, since starting to eat at The Alasia I've found that the food is lighter, more enjoyable and doesn't leave you with the bloated uncomfortable feeling I normally get from eating. I've enjoyed this food so much I try to stay reasonably dairy & gluten free at home now.
I am allergic to caffene and rarely get to have a hot drink in restaurants (who even when they have a decaf option, it's cheap and bad!) The Alasia have Tea Pigs teas to offer, with a whole choice of flavours which are caffene free and absolutely enjoyable. I find a pleasure in the fact that they are served in glass teapots and cups, so that I can see the colour deepen. My personal favourite is the Super Fruits but I'm yet to try one I don't like, and I understand from my Sister that the Chocolate Tea is pretty remarkable!
I can't recommend The Alasia highly enough and I just look forward to seeing the restaurant go from strength to strength. | |   | Posted by Claire Robinson on 2009-05-27 20:39:45 |

The food is always delicious whether choosing a coffee and teacake or a light lunch or a 3 course dinner. Friendly staff who are very helpful when asked questions about their food/dishes. My only comment would be that they could have a better selection of vegetarian meals available. | Address | 4 West Street , Grove Village , Weston-Super-Mare | | Comments | Never have I been made to feel so welcome and never have I been so well-attended to as at The Alasia! From the first moment that my wife and I walked into the restaurant we were made to feel completely at ease by our vivacious and beautiful Australian hostess, for whom nothing appeared to be too much trouble, including my request to see the wine itself rather than just choose from a list. having made my selection, I was struck by how Alasia not only took our order with smiling eagerness, but was also instantly on-hand to dispense her encyclopaedic knowledge of her very fine menu to each and every table. The food was a delight and it was obvious that only fresh ingredients were included and cooked to order for each customer. Much of the menu is based on dairy and gluten-free products but there is sufficient choice for all tastes and there is certainly no compromise on the content, flavour or presentation of the dishes served. The whole experience was one I dearly hope to repeat in the future (I live in Nottinghamshire!) and I implore any self-respecting resident or visitor to Weston-Super-Mare to give The Alasia a try instead of one of the more predictable and numerous fish & chip joints along the seafront; I don't think you will be disappointed! | |   | Posted by Robin Nuttall on 2009-05-10 23:47:43 |

| Address | 4 West Street , Grove Village , Weston-Super-Mare | | Comments | Saturday evening we had our first experience of Alasia, and it most certainly will not be the last!
The warm, welcoming atmosphere is an Oasis in Weston (lacking as Weston is in quality eateries).
Michaela and team really do everything to make you feel at home here, the general attention to detail is wonderful.
As said in another review, the wines selection is small, but a lot of thought has gone in to it, ensuring something for everyone.
For those that prefer beers, there is also a good selection of beers and lagers available - most impressive (as a bitter drinker myself I often find a quality ale is missing from the drinks menu, but not here).
The evening menu and specials selection was a delight with plenty of choice.
I had the 'Roo (much to Jane's horror - "you cant eat Skippy!" and found it married wonderfully with the cranberry and prosciutto, Jane had the Italian Peposo and that was superb, very melt in the mouth.
Desserts were a dream, this being an area many a good restaurant has let us down on in the past (nothing worse than a well thought out menu followed by factory made cakes and puddings).
Everything in the dessert selection was home made, and both of us fell for the guilty chocolate - Dark Chocolate Pudding and Chocolate Torte, which were heaven for chocolate lovers like us.
I think next time we may even try the pudding club so we have a selection!.
We noted that the detail even went down to the teas on offer, as Alaysia stock the most wonderful range of "Tea Pig" teas - we ended up buying a slection for home.
All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable evening at a venue I would recommend to friends, family and all.
Many thanks to Michaela and team | |   | Posted by Matt and Jane on 2009-04-26 07:47:02 |

There is a carvery second to none with choices of beef, pork, turkey and lamb. Superb roast pots and what an array of vegetables too and cooked to perfection, not overdone and soggy! Very child friendly whilst retaining an adult atmosphere. Puds good too and definitely value for money. Make the trip - you won't be disappointed.

| Address | Catcott , , Bridgwater | | Comments | I recently had two evening meals at 'The Crown' and was hosting on both occasions - early April 2009. What a nice surprise it was to find excellent food, nice cozy pub ambiance served in a clean enviroment by a professional waiter. The menu consisted of a good smattering of English favorites with a dollop of foreign influence.
One of my guests had a chicken curry, another a beautifully cooked Dover sole (I was quite jealous I hadn't chosen it!) and I had the Gammon which was garnished with a nice chunk of fresh pineapple. The chips were done to perfection - homemade, crispy and hot, veg not over-cooked and the meringue dessert with ice-cream, whipped cream and raspberries was one of the best desserts I've ever tasted. Quite scrumptious.
The Crown is located on the outskirts of this beautiful Somerset village overlooking the Sedge Moor - a lovely place to have dinner. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

| Address | 65 Station Road , , Taunton | | Comments | I, and my family, have been dining at the French Connection in Taunton ever since it opened, some 13 years ago. The food is well cooked and presented. The vegetables in particular merit special praise as there is always a good selection, cooked to perfection. As well as the outstanding food the atmosphere is always welcoming due to the warmth and professionalism shown to their customers by the proprietors, Didier and Stella Pinguenet. For people wanting to experience a good meal out, in pleasant surroundings, I thoroughly recommend the French Connection. | |   | Posted by Gillian Tucker on 2009-03-24 15:01:31 |
| Address | West Bagborough , , Taunton | | Comments | Stayed two nights and enjoyed great food, ale and hospitality in lovely surroundings. My first night's fillet steak was beautifully tender and it took a fair break before giving in to a sumptuous pud. The calves liver the following night was delicious and very filling, leaving no room for a pud this time! An excellent food and accommodation venue which I would thoroughly recommend. | |   | Posted by Paul Millington on 2009-03-24 00:02:40 |

This was good to see under the current climate! We ate in the 'back room' on a big table. The food was very nice, we had toasted paninis and my boy had a smaller portion of sandwiches to suit his apetite, which we were charged accordingly for. The coleslaw was lovely and creamy. | |   | Posted by Simon Coad on 2009-03-18 15:53:01 |

I particularly enjoyed my Tandori Chicken Tikka, and it was nice to see that deep red colour on the outer meat with lovely succulent white meat within, which is the colour I used to associate with it until other establishments went 'orange'! The House Rose wine was also very palatable. It's also one of the best value in town and the staff very welcoming and friendly during service. | |   | Posted by Simon Coad on 2009-03-18 15:43:03 |

A truly enjoyable evening for all the family(2 Adults and 2 Students). A warm friendly atmosphere where we were made to feel very comfortable. The personal touch without pressure or being rushed, and then came the food. A feast for your eyes and taste buds.Between us we tried a variety of dishes (some vegetarian/some not) all of which were excellent.A wonderful idea for the pudding selection where you can have a plate containing a selection of puds. to share-no more passing bowls to try each others. | Address | Castle Street , Nether Stowey , Bridgwater | | Comments | Ate here on a Friday evening - they have a set price menu Fridays and Saturdays, 2 courses for £15 or 3 for £20. I'm lactose-intolerant but this wasn't a problem and the chef was able to alter the menu to cater for me. I had the collar of old spot pork, which was fantastic, and my friend had the mutton tagine which was also really good. For dessert we had a cider sorbet and a warm chocolate brownie with home-made vanilla ice-cream. It was a great evening, and we're looking forward to going back for the 'Gourmet Burger' evening on a Thursday night, which looks great value at 2 courses for a tenner and three for £14! | Address | 65 Station Road , , Taunton | | Comments | Absolutely nice food. 3 of us went for a dinner and we had escargot, mussels with white wine sauce and a soup of the day. I personally prefer the mussels as its so tasty. For the main course, we had lamb, steak and duck breast with cranberry sauce. The duck was perfect with the sauce, fantastically cooked in pink. The potato side dish is so tasty. Overall its a generous portion, warm service and tasty cuisine. Bravo!!! We will be back again. | |   | Posted by Doris Chin on 2009-03-11 16:43:53 |

The menu is mouth-watering , the chef prepares with care and pride.
Portions are extreemly generous indeed. All this is helped by the ambience of this traditional listed building with some of the best facillities for guests. On top of all that is the welcome you will receive from the proprietors Paul and Hayley , which is with a true warmth and enthusiasm.

| Address | North Street , Shepton Beauchamp , Ilminster | | Comments | I was on holiday in Ilminster two weeks ago and was recommended the Duke of York for a good meal. The family went and the recommended was totally true. The food was excellent and the dessert was out of this world. The staff couldn't do enough for us and coming around to see if everything was ok. If I am down this area again I will make sure I call there again. I will tell all my family about it, and I know they will frequent it in the future.
Well done the Duke of York and thank you for a wonderful day. | |   | Posted by Gloria Burgess on 2009-03-09 11:37:17 |

| Address | Dowlish Wake , , Ilminster | | Comments | Being local we regularly eat at this charming little pub with its 'nothing is too much trouble' friendly atmosphere. There is always a good varied specials board and Richard, the landlord and chef always makes a point of coming into the dining room to greet his guests and have the odd laugh and joke with them. All the staff are cheerful and friendly and good food together with an excellent range of beverages make this a top rate pub. | |   | Posted by John Walker on 2009-03-07 16:08:03 |

| Address | North Street , Shepton Beauchamp , Ilminster | | Comments | I spent my 40th wedding anniversary there and the atmosphere was out of this world. The service was brilliant and the cuisine was fantastic. The staff couldn't do enough to make our stay welcome. I heard about this hostelry from one of my friends and I came all the way from South Wales to spend my anniversary there and I am glad i did. Not only was it a great night but our names are the same, so it couldn't be bad. I would recommend this establishment to all. | |   | Posted by John Rowlands on 2009-03-03 07:36:51 |
| Address | Catcott , , Bridgwater | | Comments | How do you place a price on community spirit? We all know it's invaluable and as soon as Bob and Row took over our local pub, The Crown, the village rejoiced! Here we found ourselves welcomed and valued, old timers were back, regulars could come to drink and socialise without pressure to eat. However, dining became irrestible then a compulsion. The Sunday carvery and extensive menu never fail to delight, the exceptional standard of cooking allows us to visit often and never be disappointed. The ambience of the pub is classically rustic and charming, the staff enable us to feel as if the pub is an extension of our own home, either by savouring the roaring fire, chatting with the many locals or enjoying a private meal, we are always grateful that this is OUR pub! The choice of beer and wine is another plus much enjoyed by all. | |   | Posted by Kathy and Rob Counsell on 2009-03-02 18:35:17 |

The steak and pie was home made, like your Mum used to make and the battered haddock was huge! To finish our meal we had a selection of home made desserts which were mouth watering delicious. The food is varied & the ambience is great whether it is lunch or evening meal. It is so nice to find somewhere to cater for different dietary needs, a lot of care is taken with explaining what is on offer plus the service is exceptional. If you need somewhere to eat before going to the Theatre this is it. | Address | 11 Church Street , Nunney , Nr Frome, Somerset | | Comments | The new management has initiated a much needed refurbishment. The new decor is light, airy and welcoming. The George is a historic coaching Inn and faces the ruined 14th century Nunney Castle. Head chef Wayne Carnegie and his team put the emphasis firmly on provenance, evident in the assured execution of a gastropub menu featuring seasonal, mainly locally sourced ingredients. Rare Aberdeen Angus beef for Sunday lunch is drawing in the crowds, whilst the lunchtime menu offers baguettes, burgers, salads, soup and homemade pies. Starters include Cornish mussels, goats cheese, smoked duck with orange and asparagus and homemade game terrine, whilst main courses can include roast shoulder of Corsley lamb, milk fed pork fillet filled with apple and garden sage wrapped in filo pastry served with a Calvados cream sauce and outstanding homemade beef pies. A good selection of local cheeses with home made chutney, plus traditional favourites such as spotted dick, apple pie, chocolate mousse and lemon tart. The key to all these is in the use of great ingredients and in the execution. Service is spot-on. Guest ales and ciders are available in addition to Wadsworth regulars, while the wine list includes some pleasant surprises and many wines available by the glass. Dog-friendly, although children can be frowned upon. Accommodation. Recommended. | |   | Posted by Adrie van der Luijt on 2009-02-16 12:10:53 |

| Address | Burrowbridge , , Bridgwater | | Comments | Last Sunday, 8th Feb 09, I took my two boys (aged 8 and 6) for lunch at The King Alfred in Burrowbridge.
The pub was busy with live jaz music.
We had a table booked for the 'Famous Sunday Roast' and I very quickly established why it was so 'famous'.
The service was excellent (child friendly and very efficient - especially noting how busy they were). The food was outstanding! Roast Pork and Beef with the traditional trimings! Probably the best roast potatoes I have ever had. And the meat was local too!
The deserts were fab - home made choc chip sponge and custard was a massive hit with my eldest boy.
Thank you King Alfred - what a fab time we had in your pub accompanied by such good food - keep it up....... we will be back again very soon! | |   | Posted by Gary Piper on 2009-02-10 13:45:17 |

| Address | Burrowbridge , , Bridgwater | | Comments | your site would not allow me to enter Burrowbridge - the location of the King Alfred. Four of us ate there last evening and found their service excellent and friendly, very informative about meal selection and source of steaks etc. with the emphasis on local produce. Even provided a doggy bag of meat even though we had not left any on our plates! The steaks were too delicious to leave any! Lively, friendly, warm and enjoyable. Thoroughly recommend it. | |   | Posted by Mike Peters on 2009-01-31 09:24:23 |
| Address | Catcott , , Bridgwater | | Comments | this is a wonderful pub in lovely surroundings run by efficient, friendly people who emit a caring welcome to all their customers. the landlords originally ran a pub the other side of bridgwater that had a fantastic reputation for food and especially their carvery on a sunday! they have since moved to the crown inn, a lovely country pub with a fantastic atmosphere and welcoming staff that nothing is to much trouble for.
i have been a regular customer for a sunday carvery for many years now and have never had a meal i was dissatissfied with! the standards are so high and i am reluctant to go anywhere else if i eat out for sunday lunch. they have gone from strength to strength in the time i have been a customer, and you see the same old faces reappearing so i know there are many others tht will share my views.
i have taken many friends and family to the crown inn and they in turn have returned with more new customers in tow!
give it a try.....you wont be dissapointed! i know i never am! | |   | Posted by nichola sackley on 2009-01-28 20:54:32 |

The landlords always have a fabulous attitude towards us and a clear relationship with local patrons; other pubs should envy such perfection. I give this pub a clear 10/10! | |   | Posted by Andrew on 2008-11-23 17:16:05 |
| Address | 5 Sadler Street , , Wells | | Comments | Both Goodfellows and the Sadler Street Cafe are highly recommended.
We visit the Cafe nearly every week for breakfast and or lunch and always find staff friendly & welcoming though it's always busy. The coffee is good and the cakes & tartlets are fantastic courtesy of an Austrian pastry chef. Lunch is mouth watering too.
Goodfellows is in our oppinion the best restaurant locally particularly for fish. Dishes are tasty, well presented and a good size and the front of house staff and the chef and his team most welcoming. Highly recommended. | |   | Posted by Philip Bevan on 2008-11-22 15:58:43 |

| Address | 59 High Street , , Wellington | | Comments | Excellent restaurant! the food is gorgeous and cooked to perfection. Owners and staff are very friendly and welcoming! I've been there on one of the regular theme nights that they hold - entertainment was really good fun and alot of effort was made. Top marks and would recommend to anyone. | |   | Posted by Michelle hawkings on 2008-11-14 13:18:23 |
| Address | Moor Lane , East Coker , Yeovil | | Comments | We are quite good cooks ourselves and therefore to tend to be disappointed and critical a lot of the time when eating out but we have just experienced the best Sunday roast possible, everything about it absolutely faultless.Never had such a variety of traditional veg cooked to such perfection, the meat was tender, succulent and full of flavour. The whole ambiance of the pub together with the friendly efficient staff has certainly ensured many return visits to sample the extensive menu on offer from the traditional to the exotic. Treat yourselves to a meal out here and i don't think you'll be disappointed!! | |   | Posted by mrs elaine pennington on 2008-11-12 12:49:17 |
| Address | 59 High Street , , Wellington | | Comments | Flavours is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The service is excellent and friendly and will accomodate any need. The Christmas menu and food was absolutely delicious and was a very welcome change from the normal rush and stress of a traditional family meal. The menu is changed regularly and is very good value for money. More people should visit it! | |   | Posted by Rebecca Woodberry on 2008-11-10 16:41:19 |
| Address | 5 Sadler Street , , Wells | | Comments | What can I say?
If you want excellent value, very good service and best of all beautiful food look no further than Good!
The menu is varied with dishes to tempt everyone. There are two lunch time specials on at £10 for mains glass of wine and dessert. The second special is £15 for a similar selection but with hot dishes if you prefer.
Don't delay, Wells is a beautiful city with a variety of shops and the Wednesday Farmers' Market shouldn't be missed either!!

| Address | The Cliffs , , Cheddar | | Comments | Recently went here on an impulse for Sunday Lunch, having recollections of great beer and meals back in the summer.
This is a great place to take the kids. Very family friendly. The staff were all very happy to be there and could not be any nicer. Also the kids menu here is very good and catered for our awkward 3 yr old with ease providing many healthy options. Generous portions all round.
Best to book as it was very busy when we were there which is often a good sign.
And, not forgetting the beer is still great. | |   | Posted by Jason on 2008-11-04 18:42:23 |
